Stone Walls at the Gardner Museum

Stone wall expert Kevin Gardner will give a presentation on one of New England’s most iconic features at the Gardner Museum, June 13, 6:30-8:00.

Kevin Gardner is a stone wall builder who’s worked in the family business for over 45 years. His presentation will include discussions of why New England came to have its thousands of miles of stone walls, how those walls were built, the ways in which stone wall styles changed over time, and their significance to New England history and its iconic landscape.

The event will start with a museum-hosted reception at 6:30. Kevin Gardner’s presentation will begin at 7:00.

Copies of Kevin Gardner’s books (The Granite Kiss: Traditions and Techniques of Building New England Stone Walls and Stone Building: How to Make New England Style Stone Walls and Other Structures) will be available for purchase at the event.
