Bailey’s in Townsend: Comfort, Creativity, and Award-Winning Flavor

Bailey’s in Townsend has quickly established itself as a dining spot that blends comfort with creativity, while still maintaining the warm, community-driven atmosphere that makes a restaurant memorable. With 17 years of experience behind them, the owners bring consistency, generous portions, and award-winning flavors to their ventures.
On our visit, we sampled the Whiskey BBQ Short Rib Burger, the Caesar salad, and a special bacon blue sirloin. The burger arrived perfectly medium rare, layered with tender short rib and a smoky-sweet whiskey barbecue sauce that balanced richness and flavor. The Caesar salad stood out for its generous portion and the unexpected addition of sliced cheese, giving it more depth than a standard version. The bacon blue sirloin, one of the evening’s specials, could have been a tad more tender; though we felt that melting the blue cheese into the meat rather than serving it as crumbles would have elevated the dish further. Overall, the portions were hearty and satisfying without being overwhelming.
The service at Bailey’s is as much a part of the experience as the food. Heather, our waitress, and the manager went out of their way to ensure a smooth, welcoming evening. The restaurant also offers live entertainment three nights a week all year round—on the patio in summer and indoors during the winter. Monday trivia nights add a playful, casual draw for both regulars and newcomers.
Bailey’s, together with its sister restaurants the Alamo in Brookline, NH, and The Dox locations on both Winnisquam and Winnipesaukee, delivers on the promise of hearty comfort food, attentive service, and a community feel. Bailey’s stands out as a local favorite worth visiting again and again.
