Fitchburg Celebrates Earth Day

Join the City of Fitchburg to celebrate our wonderful Earth at Riverfront Park, 12:00-3:00pm on April 21.

This free festival event will feature many great vendors, as well as a number of information tables, all focused on sustainable resources, initiatives, and activities. Together, we can create awareness of the effect pollution is having on the Earth and learn to adopt environmentally sustainable habits and take action, and have a blast while we’re at it!

Want to make a difference in your local community? Before the celebration, there will be a community clean-up of Riverfront Park. Help tidy up litter and pull up invasive plants at Riverfront Park, 9:00-12:00! Some tools and work gloves will be provided. If you are able, please bring loppers, pruning shears, work gloves, sunscreen, water, and a hat if possible.

Have extra plants or seeds? Looking for just the right addition to your garden or yard? Fitchburg’s Earth Day Celebration will feature a Plant Swap! Whether you’re looking to swap plants or seeds, indoor or outdoor plants, the Plant Swap has you covered. Note: No invasive plants, and please do not bring plants if your yard is already infested with jumping worms.

There will also be a clothing swap, so lightly worn, non-torn, unstained clothing can see a new life in someone else’s closet, instead of a landfill.

North County Land Trust will host a sustainable art activity. There will also be a Chalk Art Activity with nontoxic washable chalk. Baby wipes will be provided for chalk hands.

Crunch Fitness will host a free Zumba class, and Energize Fitness will also have a free fitness class.

Bin There Dump That has generously sponsored a dumpster for people to bring a bag of trash and dump. No large or bulk items will be accepted.

Food vendors include Uprise Baking Co., Waves Dairy Free Soft Serve, and Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice.
