Bjurlings’ 1947 Cross-Country Adventure

Come see a presentation on the 1947 cross-country car trip taken by Philip and Dorothy Bjurling given by Bryant LeBlanc at the Gardner Museum, October 19, 6:30-8:00pm.

Bryant LeBlanc, Chairperson of the Gardner Museum Cllections Committee, presents an account of the 35-day car trip taken by Philip and Dorothy Bjurling, along with David and Marie St. Germain. This trip from Gardner to Portland OR, which passed through 31 states and Canada, was documented by Dorothy in a 38-page travelogue, and a scrapbook containing pictures, postcards, and mementos from the stops and sites visited.

The evening will start with a museum-hosted reception at 6:30, and LeBlanc will begin the presentation at 7:00

For the best experience, be sure to visit the Gardner Museum’s exhibit on the Bjurling Family beforehand, which will be running during regular museum hours from September 6 through the end of the year.
