Varla Ventura Wolfsbane & Nightshade: The Botany of Werewolves, Witches, and Vampires Wednesday, October 8 at 6:00PM at Levi Heywood Memorial Library.
Aconite takes one of its common names from its maddening, wild effects on the body which some scholars believe gave rise to the behavior of, and belief in werewolves. But it is not wolfsbane alone that can turn you into a werewolf. We’ll dive deep into the folkloric record to reveal accounts of werewolves, including the flowing lycanthropic streams of Scandinavian lore, along with the suspected antidotes growing alongside them.
