Live on the Lawn: Fabiola Méndez at Groton Hill

Native to Caguas, PR, Fabiola began playing the cuatro, Puerto Rico’s national instrument, at the age of six and made history in 2018 as the first Berklee College of Music graduate to play the cuatro as principal instrument.

Fabiola’s mission has always been to share and celebrate the cuatro, folk music, and collective story-telling. She has played concerts internationally, and recorded seven albums between 2008 and her latest release, Flora Campesina, in 2024. In addition, Fabiola produced her first documentary “Negrura”, showcasing Afro-Latinx stories in topics around colorism and discrimination within our own communities.
